Sun conjunct Ceres; Vesta trine Pluto

Saturday, June 28:

Sun conjunct Ceres, Moon in Taurus,
There is a certain rhythm and mood when a child is with one parent while the other parent is away. Sometimes this is worlds apart. When Sun conjunct Ceres, it is as if someome comes home from a long kind of trip and everyone feels authoritative cross currents at meal time or in the kitchen. While disclosing the states of our wellbeing, we can ask ourselves if we place our own needs on others we claim to be nourishing. We are all trying to fit in somehow and still maintain some authority. Today we can remember with both awareness and self compassion how deep is the need and wish to be loved.

Sunday, June 29:
Moon still in Taurus, Vesta trine Pluto
While Vesta in Aries trines Pluto in Sagittarius at 29 degrees, we have a chance to tear into any project we have been avoiding. We all know which ones these are, whether it's calling the therapist, confronting someone with uncomfortable information or tending to paperwork long overdue, we all know what we want to work on and havent. This is a day where we can say to ourselves "Just do it." If the side effect of procrastinating has beenlack of intimacy and keeping it arm's length from our soul, we may now fathom ourselves emotionally available and psychically safe.

Uranus Stationary, Yeah, Right.

I am thinking about the feeling of body surfing. Not one of those smooth waves that takes you in a straight line back to your towel, I mean the most chaotic energies possible crisscrossing in every direction swirling and whisking you underwater. With those waves I found if I gave in to it all, it was a lot of fun. It also never felt normal. That's what I imagine with Uranus stationary, which is happening now.

Uranus and Neptune are in mutual reception, Neptune is still basically opposing Mars, and today's Moon is in Aries is about the equivalent of a hydro-electric plant using water to make energy conducting the art of chaos. Any conflicts with the unpredictable and dominating? Do anything but what you normally do: slither along the edges if you normally pummel the boss, directly yield (but with gusto) to the epicenter if your tact normally has to do with invisibility. The beauty in this is we do have options, and we can decide them fast and spontaneously.

Intercepted Tunnels / Duplicity Rivers

Hello Deirdre,
Can you explain how intercepted houses and planets happen? And what is the significance? I have Chiron and south node in Pisces intercepted in the 3 house, and Pluto and north node in Virgo intercepted in the 9th.
Thanks!
ValerB

..............................................................................................................

Dear ValerB,
If you go on a trip to somewhere on the equator, you would see that the Sun rises at 6 am and sets at 6 pm — even in December, even in June and even always. If you go way, way up to Norway in June, the Sun almost never sets. The further you get from the equator, the more extreme is the ratio of night to day. This is the principal behind why some houses are bigger than others in the oft used Placidus House system which is the default house system on a lot of astrology sites, like astro.com for example. If you were born on the equator, you would have equal house sizes in the Placidus system. As we move north or south from the equator, the view of the houses starts to seem like it distorts, the differences in house size become greater. You were born 43 degrees north of the equator, so your chart has houses of different sizes.

This distortion creates interceptions and duplicities. In your case Pisces and Virgo, the intercepted signs, are sandwiched into your 3rd - 9th house axis. To contrast, Aries and Libra, the duplicitous signs, both appear twice — like two slices of bread around the 4th - 10th axis.

I often experience the intercepted houses almost like a blind spot. It's hard to see. The intercepted areas may feel like in a tunnel like into a double cave where there is light on the other side. What is especially important about your intercepted axis, is that Chiron, Pluto and the Nodes are there. Where Chiron is in a chart can sometimes be experienced as a cave anyway. In mythology, Chiron taught medicine in a cave. Where Pluto is in our charts can show us where we can grow beyond our shadow. The nodes are the needle of the compass.

The duplicities may feel more accessible and can offer a supportive way of working through the tunnel. In your chart this would mean the 4th - 10th axis may come easier to you. Setting up a home, and living. Resonating with your life work. With Libra on the 10th, I would think a partner would play a significant roll in your life purpose, your calling.

I thought of how big rivers are often used for world trade, with big tankers and container ships. One way of leaving the river in tact and getting to the other side is to build a tunnel. This is the image I thought of for you. Enter the tunnel in the third house, exiting in the 9th. Then entering a water slide which goes from the 4th to the 10th. This can be a rhythm in your creative process.

The tunnel connects writing with publishing. If you write, I imagine it has not been the most obvious thing to do — you had to go into the cave of the cave of the tunnel to initiate a creative body of work. I believe, setting up a home for you as a creative hero, where you can spend time with a partner can give you much strength and support around the creative act in the tunnel.

What do you think about this?

Thanks for writing,
Deirdre

Happy Northern Solstice — Glad Midsommar

Friday, June 20:
Sun opposed Pluto, Northern Solstice, Moon in Capricorn,
If there is any message at all today it's cast your ego aside and hug someone because you have a lot of love to give. Hug your relative who is in the hospital, or hug a baby who wont stop crying. Choosing the high road is sometimes not the most glamorous road in the moment. Today is the Solstice and its opposed by Pluto. Beware of the bully in you, protect children from any kind of ridiculous, power hungry dominance. Use the cosmic powers today look at your life from a completely different point of view. Re-design your house from roof to foundation. Notice manipulative versus loving energy. Soften your heart and remember: the root of all power games is fear.

Saturday, June 21:
Venus sextile Saturn, Moon in Aquarius, Mars opposed Neptune
With a moon in Aquarius today, energy flows ideally among three or more groups. Ideas fine tune in the collective. Invite old friends over. A few friends may start to feel like old friends. Mars opposing Neptune can be tricky and sneaky. Moving energy with yoga, swimming laps or making love can bring the highest and happiest manifestations of these planetary forces.

Sunday, June 22:
Moon still in Aquarius. Venus conjunct Ceres in Cancer.
With Venus and Ceres conjunct in Cancer, and the world is ours to nourish. Water the plants, plant new ones, groom the dog, have a barbecue and be with family. If there was ever a day for a family or friends picnic day at the beach it is today. With Moon in Aquarius, it's all the more fun and crazy and cohesive. If you are alone, nourish yourself with creativity, painting and gardening. Call an Aquarius and find out what they are doing. Join in. Have an inspired conversation. Find the new organic restaurant in town and go.

Pluto in Capricorn, Non-Negotiating Confidence

Hi Deirdre
I'm a painter and illustrator, have been reasonably successful but haven't worked professionally for nine years or so, due to the birth of my daughter and health concerns. I've often had a strong feeling that I have something unique and powerful, workwise, to present to the world, but am plagued with self-doubt and often don't know what to do or where to start, or if I'm completely misguided. I understand I have a Finger of Fate aspect in my birth chart involving the Sun, Moon and Jupiter. Also a Grand Trine involving Saturn, Jupiter and Neptune. Can you shed any light on this for me, please?
Regards,
Elle from Galway

..............................................................................................................

Dear Elle,

Don't worry, you can be plagued with self doubt now, but you will change a lot in the next few years, and there is no way that self doubt will stay a part of you. Pluto is about to pass over your Sun. I think self doubt will not interest you anymore and even if you will still be full of self doubt, you won't notice it or play it out, so it will be like a tree in the forest that no one hears.

My impression is your path is about color, discovery, knowledge, partnership, socializing and community. The area to work on may have to do with what you own with other people and how you communicate about that.

I think the public may have the impression that you work with a partner together (Mars in Libra at the Midheaven). It may be that this partnership is the source of social life for an art community (Mars trining Moon in Gemini). Being out and social in the world kicks up a lot of material for conversation and for group work (Uranus and Pluto in the 9th). It seems that being a part of this collective may be the ticket out of the plagues with insecurity because you may be gravitating toward a powerful leadership position, powerful within the cultural community regarding certain knowledge (Pluto will be passing over your natal Sun, and your natal Pluto is in the 9th house conjunct Uranus). It will be known to you and others that you are the boss and the most capable (Sun in Capricorn with transiting Pluto conjunct). You may develop or be involved in a new body of knowledge which involves the images you make. (Venus in Capricorn. Saturn the dispositor is in the 3rd conjunct Chiron opposing Uranus and Pluto) Your task may be to claim your knowledge (Pluto in the 9th), to copyright it, own it and stand by it like a hawk. The power involved in this process will be awakened from your bone marrow (as a Capricorn, there is power in your skeleton), so what you need is already in place.

In terms of the Finger of God (the yod) you asked about, you not only have one, you have three (which I highlighted), but the one you asked about with Sun at the opposing midpoint of your natal Moon-Jupiter sextile, this one is the most activated in the moment, because of the Pluto transit. My impression of these yods is they could account for some staggering ryhthms in your life which other people find freaky and you feel are normal. My feeling about yods is they feel like bolts out of the blue, sudden moves, and flashes of insight. You have a series of three of these yods, setting each other off all the time, like a special kind of electrical system. I think keeping a journal, could help you ground the electrical system and help you see some patterns in events in your life which no one else seems to have.

The next years look very eventful — fulfilling, social and transforming.
My best to you on your Journey,
Deirdre

Weekend with a Vibe

Friday, June 13:
Moon in Scorpio 10:53 pm in Europe, 4:53 pm EST; Venus trines Neptune.
The past couple of days, maybe you have felt it's been easy to talk to people, connecting with stories and ideas. This has been a grand trine in air with Venus and Sun traveling close together. You might want to spend time with the people you have been connecting with over the last few days to share more around something deeper going on in your life. While Venus trines Neptune, get out your camera and make a movie or take pictures. The results will be quite poignant.

Saturday, June 14:
Moon is in Scorpio all day. Pluto goes back into Sagittarius.
We are still building toward the Full Moon this coming Wednesday and don't forget it. Pluto and the Moon are surely moving toward each other while the Moon is in Scorpio. You will get to the heart of the matter. We all have very deep insights and it is important to use them to protect people we love. Stinging people or embarrassing them is a cheap trick, anyone can do that. With awareness we can steer the vibe toward a more gentle and very, very true and safe kind of love.

Sunday, June 15:
Moon still in Scorpio. Sun trines Neptune.
When the Sun is in Gemini and the Moon is in Scorpio, you can be at the beach on a sunny day reading a dark and steamy book and be in two worlds at the same time. You can also be in a conversation with your brother and get caught in a thunderstorm. Get inspired by the range life has to offer, the relief of being light and the necessity of going dark at the turn of a dime. If you are a writer, write all the sex scenes of your next novel today as an outline for the plot.

Longing To Be Known

Dear Deirdre,
I am a woman who fell in love with a man who was not my husband (I've been married for 13 years, to someone I met in highschool who has always been my family, but not the kind of partner/lover I now crave). This man I fell in love with was only an acquaintance and I never believed he was romantically interested in me, but he did open up a world for me — the world of my own desire — that had not been a part of my consciousness prior to knowing him. For two years now, I've been trying to find the feelings that I felt within his presence within myself, to no avail. I'm looking for thoughts, advice, chart-based wisdom, experience-based wisdom about how to transform my longing into something that will ultimately bring me more joy. Part of what I felt with this person was a longing to be known — deeply known. He is a Scorpio with Pisces moon. My husband is a Libra with Gemini moon. I felt an emotional connection with this other guy that I don't believe I will ever achieve with my husband.

I truly want to use this painful, though awakening experience, to change myself in the best way possible.

Warm regards,
C
..............................................................................................................
Dear C,
In astrology, we would say your marriage is nearing its half Saturn Return, like a seven-year itch times two. At a half Saturn Return we take realistic stock of what we have and desire full value. A couple years ago you had a wonderful magical mystery ride which I feel was part of a series of valuable adventures. With your marriage and with your lover, both were instances where the other person played a significant though different roll in who you are, but the constant is really you. My sense is you have a deep longing to be aware of yourself.

You said the man you met was only an acquaintance. I think as well he could have been reflecting part of your subconscious mind with which you are also getting acquainted, isnt that cool? This is about you — not him.

You've got a LOT of Pisces: Mercury, Juno, Moon, North Node, Ceres, Sun, and Venus all in Pisces. This may make it hard sometimes to know what is the difference between you and the other person, because you are able to merge so completely. So far, all of your Pisces stellium has been conjuncted by transitting Uranus. The last piece remaining will be that conjunction of Uranus and Venus coming up in 2009 and 2010, so pace yourself.

You may have recently felt a shift when Uranus left your 4th house this year and entered your 5th house. You may feel a lot more independence than you have in a while. The way for you to go deeper into yourself now will be through creativity, because that is something you keep forever and no one can take it away from you, it's yours and it is you. With a Uranus transit through the 5th, I would say take a class, or join a life drawing group so you can bring creativity and people together. I am not sure in which directions your creative talents are but it's time to explore, go crazy, break the rules and have fun. Whatever creative interests you have, it's time to put them on the table, and I guarantee, that the adventures you experience with your art and creativity, will be the key to unlocking secret and unknown aspects of yourself. The people who cheer you on this creative path will deeply know you, as you deeply know yourself.

Sincerely Yours,
Deirdre

What's Up This Weekend: (F)unconditional Love, A Practice

Friday, June 6:
Moon is in Cancer; Venus sextiles Mars.
A soft kind of intimacy has been brewing and bubbling over the last day. Invite a friend to dinner either at your home, a very familiar restaurant, or grill and have a cook-out. When Moon goes into Leo at midnight in Europe (6pm in New York) the atmosphere revs up playfully. If you are with friends there may be some let's go dancing initiating. If you are alone you may want to work on a creative project. Also, what about throwing a party on Wednesday the 18th, here is why:

Saturday, June 7: Moon is in Leo all day. Mercury conjuncts Sun and Venus.
Think about the Full Moon coming up on June 18. This is a good one for a get-together, like a wild party with all your friends from every continent because this will be a Full Moon in Sagittarius — not this Wednesday, but next Wednesday. Use today's creative energies to make invitations; send electronically. In the retrograde of Gemini Mercury, surprise yourself with a poem or text of sorts. Mercury connects with Venus and Sun later in the day. Drink a lot of water. Talk a lot. Write a love letter. Continue a love story. Connect friends with ideas, telephones, text messages, being funny, sweet, flirty, interesting and abstract. Whether going to a street festival or to the library with brothers and sisters or sitting in your back yard watching the neighbors wash their cars while you pretend to read, go with the fun, flow with the spirit.

Sunday, June 8: Moon is in Leo. Sun is conjunct AND parallel Venus toward midnight EST.
Who do you love? Your niece? nephew? brother? sister? yourself? your neighbor? your husband? your wife? your lover? a baby? The word from on high is design the day around people you love and who love you unconditionally. This is different from people you are trying to get to love you. Stay clear of worries; forget those lovers who have no time for whatever reason. No worries! There is a clear path to love — all you have to do is walk the path. This is a day to love and enjoy! If by chance, you are not in the mood to be with people, then make the beautiful art idea which has been on your mind for a while or go to a performance or dance. Use color, adjectives and other special effects on the tip of your palette. This is a day to feel your heart open enjoying life and love.
